In a BBC 1 Radio interview Noel Gallagher slammed Mark Ronson recently saying that the musician and producer “wants to write his own tunes instead of ruining everyone else’s. Mark Ronson needs to learn three chords on the guitar and write a tune.”

Mark Ronson hit back on his MySpace page with: “I just want Noel to know that I’m actually taking guitar lessons from Jay-Z right now and he’s already taight me both chords to Wonderwall  (tune!). In fact, it’s so much fun having Jay-Z teach me all of Noel’s songs on the guitar (hooray!) that I’m thinking of doing an Oasis/Jay-Z remix album a la The Grey Album.

Potential titles are Champagne Superhova or Definitely Jay-Z. P.P.S. Noel, I did write a song called Back to Black  which actually has 7 chords in it!”

Mark Ronson’s sister Samantha also got in on the game on her MySpace, making a reference to a collaboration between Jay-Z and Kanye West called Jocking Jay-Z whose lyrics poke fun at Oasis and refer to the now infamous Glastonbury feud begun by Noel Gallagher: “Jocking Jay-Z – the closest Noel from Oasis has been in years to being on the radio. He should stop focusing his energy on dissing people and go back to ripping off Beatles songs…far more productive…jealousy is really unbecoming.”

Wow. Wham, bam, thank you m’am.

Noel Gallagher Slags Off Kaiser Chiefs, Amy Winehouse, and Mark Ronson

August 22, 2008

Noel Gallagher is getting in on the slagging game after his brother Liam slammed Coldplay, Radiohead, and Wayne Rooney in the Times recently. The Oasis boys are not afraid to speak their mind.

Noel Gallagher was on BBC Radio 1 to promote the Oasis tour and set Chris Moyles straight on a few things:

“The Monkees haven’t split up, they’re just going under the name of the Kaiser Chiefs. I did drugs for 18 years and I never got that bad as to say, ‘You know what? I think the Kaiser Chiefs are brilliant.’”

Gallagher is also not impressed by Mark Ronson, saying of the musician and producer:

“He [Ronson] wants to write his own tunes instead of ruining everyone else’s. Mark Ronson needs to learn three chords on the guitar and write a tune,” the Oasis front man added.

Gallagher also called Amy Winehouse a “destitute horse”, which is a bit rich coming from a man who is not aging well and whose face is beginning to look like a prune infested by two hairy, bleached out caterpillars. Not to mention the fact that Amy winehouse can really sing. C’mon Noel, where is the love?

Noel, you are blind. Amy is no destitute horse.

Noel, you are blind. Amy is no destitute horse.

Noel Gallagher famously rejected the idea of Jay-Z playing at Glastonbury this summer saying:

“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go.  I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”

Jay-Z ended up headlining the Glastonbury festival, and in an historic Glastonbury moment covered Oasis tune Wonderwall , singing his version of the Oasis hit to a massive adoring crowd who cheered and sang along. Jay-Z is so enamoured with the Wonderwall cover he has decided to work on the tune some more and possibly add it to an album.

We shall see what Noel Gallagher has to say about that. Get your Oasis tour tickets here.

Amy Winehouse’s Devil in a Blue Dress Burns Up the Pyramid Stage

July 2, 2008

Amy Winehouse answered the Glastonbury festival’s most-asked question: would she show up? with a resounding ‘yes!’. Amy even came close to making Pete Doherty look like an angel with her antics on the Pyramid Stage during day two of the Glastonbury music Festival, near Glastonbury, England on Saturday June 28, 2008. It all began well with Amy tottering out in a femme fatal sequined blue dress with big cleavage and a huge smile, looking radiant and over the moon to be performing after last week’s spell in the hospital. She was all giggles about her wardrobe choice, saying: ‘It took three women to get me into this dress. Girls, isn’t it funny how it takes so long to get ready but no time to get undressed. What’s that all about?’ It took a few songs for Amy to shake off the nerves, but her voice was powerful and flawless.

The set kicked off with ‘Addicted’, the only song on her ‘Back to Black’ album not inspired by her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, and then ‘Tears Dry on Their Own’ and ‘You Know I’m No Good’. Her beehive then got stuck in her guitar strap and had to be freed by a roadie. Despite rambling on about her husband and

Amy was like a tornado gathering momentum. She belted out three covers: a Toots and the Maytals’ Monkey Man, Sam Cooke’s soul classic Cupid and her ‘favourite song from last year’ the Zutons’ Valerie.

Then everything went haywire. Before launching into ‘Hey Little Rich Girl’ Amy shocked the crowd by ordering them to welcome Jay-Z and told everyone to be grateful they weren’t getting Kanye West as he is a ‘c***’.

There had been debates as to whether hip-hop artists belonged at the traditionally rock-based Glastonbury Festival, with Oasis’ Noel Gallagher being vocal about hip-hop not fitting in with the program. But others, including Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily have said that it is time Glastonbury welcomed hip-hop and other audiences to the festival. Amy finally rose to the occasion and burned the stage down with her explosive finale performance of ‘Rehab’, jumping off stage into the pit, stumbling around, lapping it up in the energy of the crowd. It was all bliss and wonderment until she appeared to punch an audience member. No one can deny that Amy Winehouse put out another high octane performance on the Pyramid stage that will probably go down in Glastonbury history.
